Have you joined a team?

  • February 25 – April 24, 2024

  • Eight week program to establish the habit of regular exercise

  • Each group may have as many as 8 members on a team.

  • Team goal  is 832 miles together or alone.

  • Have at least 4 teams.

 

The “Challenge of Movement…”

  1. Monday: walk 30 minutes

  2. Tuesday: drink at least half of your weight in ounces of water during the day

  3. Wednesday: do stretching exercises for 20 minutes.

  4. Thursday: drink at least half of your weight in ounces of water during the day

  5. Friday: walk 30 minutes

  6. Saturday and Sunday: Try a new hobby or work on a hobby you already enjoy.

"Walk Across Texas"

Walking is one of the least expensive and easiest ways to get and stay fit. Walk Across Texas will help DRTA members to be successful in accomplishing our District 10 Goal of knowing and improving our health numbers: blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI and cholesterol.

WHAT: An eight-week program designed to help Texans establish the habit of regular physical activity using fun and motivating team approach.

WHO: DTRA will have a coordinator that will collect steps taken by each team.  Each group may have as many as eight (8) members on the team. Members will keep track of their own steps and turn in to your coordinator as requested.

GOAL: The goal of each team is to walk 832 miles, together or alone.

WHEN: We are inviting DTRA members to have at least four (4) teams that will participate in the eight-week program February 25th– April 24th, 2024.

HOW: Sign up sheets will be available at the general meeting January 12, 2024. Please call or email me to be placed on a team.

Dallas Retired Teachers Association is participating in the 2024 Walk Across Texas, sponsored by Howdy Health (Texas A and M Agrilife Extension.  There are four teams.  Each adult team may include up to 8 team members, all working together to walk the 832-mile goal from February 25 to April 24.


The Goddesses of Defeet Plus One are ready to get out there and move, RAIN OR SHINE!  We went to White Rock Lake to practice for our 832 mile trek, the rains came, but we were prepared!
